The publication’s editorial team analysed the practices of Ukraine’s largest employers by reviewing dozens of questionnaires covering veteran employment, professional adaptation, educational programmes and career development opportunities.
The ranking was based on two factors: the number of veterans employed as of 1 January 2026 (70% weighting) and the availability of dedicated professional development programmes for veterans (30%). A company’s final score was calculated as the sum of its results across the two.
Metinvest, which employs around 50,000 people, including 1,022 veterans, received 94.83 points.
Since 2023, Metinvest has been implementing a veteran reintegration ecosystem covering mental and physical health, social adaptation, training and financial support. Veterans, mobilised employees and their family members have access to additional post-demobilisation medical examinations, psychological support, psychological and physical rehabilitation, group meetings under the “Brother to Brother” programme, rehabilitation through swimming and extended “Veteran” health insurance.
The Group also provides legal advice and financial assistance related to mobilisation and the consequences of the war, organises meetings through the “Veteran Hub” platform and supports veteran communities. To facilitate social adaptation, veteran support specialists work with employees, while family and sporting events, as well as children’s recreational activities, are organised.
A separate area of focus is veteran training, as well as preparing teams and managers through the “Heroes Nearby” and “Leadership During War” programmes, which focus on supporting mobilised and demobilised employees.
The top five employers for veterans also included Naftogaz, Ukrzaliznytsia, MHP and DTEK.
