The graduates included Metinvest employees from Kamet Steel and the Group’s mining and processing plants in Kryvyi Rih, as well as those of the Zaporizhstal JV.
Most students combined their studies with work at industrial sites, while the educational process focused on real production challenges. The experience that they gained ranged from improving efficiency and automating processes to implementing modern technologies, developing digital solutions and enhancing workplace safety.
“For us, Metinvest Polytechnic is first and foremost about people, without whom no strategy can succeed. We invest in the university because we understand that modern industry is driven by specialists with practical experience and a technological mindset. This is our response to the skills shortage and, at the same time, our contribution to the development of the entire sector. We train specialists for real-world tasks: people who can contribute from day one and strengthen our operations. These are exactly the professionals who will be critically needed for Ukraine’s reconstruction,” said Tetiana Petruk, Chief Sustainability Officer at Metinvest.

The university places strong emphasis on practical training and close links with the real economy. Students work on actual industrial case studies, undertake placements at production sites and gain hands-on experience throughout their studies.
“In addition to classical theoretical training, students receive a strong practical foundation. The university has created all the necessary conditions for this and Metinvest has built clear career pathways within its operations. For the Group’s employees, tuition is free of charge, academic scholarships are available, and the educational programmes cover both traditional metallurgical disciplines and modern fields such as automation, IT, energy, economics and management,” said Eduard Hrybkov, Head of the Department of Metallurgy and Innovative Technologies at Metinvest Polytechnic.
Graduates themselves note that studying at the university gives them not only new knowledge, but also practical tools for professional growth.
Denys Savenkov, a coke oven gas operator at Zaporizhia Coke and a war veteran, obtained a degree in computer science and digital intelligence. He commented: “I deliberately chose a new field because I wanted to develop further and open more opportunities in my career. It is important that the Group made it possible for me to receive an education free of charge. This is truly valuable support. The flexible study format allowed me to combine work and learning comfortably without stepping away from the production process. It was also very important for me to become part of the student community. I felt tremendous support from both lecturers and fellow students.”

Metinvest Polytechnic is a university of the future, offering broad opportunities for young people while using modern digital systems and platforms in education. The Group established the university in 2020. The first intake of students took place in autumn 2022, and the fifth admissions cycle will begin this year. To date, the university has graduated more than 300 master’s students.
Metinvest guarantees top-performing students their first job, career development opportunities, financial support in high-demand fields and additional incentive programmes.
The university has already launched its preparatory campaign for the new intake across programmes for prospective bachelor’s, master’s and PhD students, as well as for the professional junior bachelor level, for which the requirement to sit the National Multi-Subject Test (NMT) in advance is waived. A simplified enrolment procedure for war veterans will again be in place this year. The 2026 admission rules will be published shortly on the Metinvest Polytechnic website.
