Metinvest Among the Finalists for the 2024 Reuters Sustainability Awards for its Programme for the Reintegration of Veterans

Metinvest Group has been shortlisted for one of the most prestigious global awards in sustainable development, the Reuters Sustainability Awards.

On July 31, the event’s website published the list of finalists in each category, including Metinvest for the project "Hero's Path: Metinvest’s Ecosystem for Integrating Veterans," which is vying for the "Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion" award.

"For Metinvest, being shortlisted for a globally recognised award is, first of all, a recognition of the work done by our managers, leaders, and ordinary employees who welcome daily veterans returning from war into our family. The reintegration of former military personnel is both a challenge and an opportunity for the Group. This is our future and a path for every major Ukrainian business. Metinvest is ready to lead in this area in Ukraine, as employees representing one sixth of our total workforce are currently serving in the Armed Forces of Ukraine," said Tetiana Petruk, Chief Sustainability Officer of Metinvest Group.

The "Hero's Path: Metinvest’s Ecosystem for Integrating Veterans” project, nominated for the award, is a comprehensive programme with a list of actions that the Group follows when former military personnel return to work. Overall, more than 1,000 veterans have already joined Metinvest, while 8,000 Group employees are defending Ukraine from the russian invasion in the armed forces.

The Reuters: Sustainability Awards is a leading global award recognising leadership in sustainable business development. It is more than just a recognition of the best sustainability strategies; it honours those who truly impact business, society, and the environment, creating a new way of doing business in the 21st century. Over the past 14 years, the award has served as a benchmark for companies worldwide.

In 2024, 16 winners will be selected in four main areas of business sustainability: "Climate and Nature," "Strategies and Leadership," "Driving Social Change" (which includes the "Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion" award), and "Reporting and Investments." More about the nomination categories can be found here. Among the award contenders are such world-renowned brands as Amazon, General Electric, Lotus, Lenovo, Verizon, Bayer, and others.

The winners in each category will be announced in October during a gala ceremony in London.
