From Production to HR: Metinvest Recognised as AI Leader in Steel Industry by Delo.ua

Metinvest Group has topped a ranking by Delo.ua of artificial intelligence leaders in Ukraine’s mining and metals sector.

The publication conducted a nationwide study and compiled a list of 50 AI leaders: companies where AI is embedded at the level of strategy, processes and measurable performance indicators. The ranking is presented in alphabetical order across 16 categories.

According to Delo.ua, Metinvest applies AI across production, marketing, sales, finance, logistics, HR and IT.

The Group develops its own AI solutions, which are already integrated into business and operational processes, forming a unified corporate AI ecosystem. Among the key products are:

  • MIOSIAR, an intelligent document processing platform that automates routine processes, reduces human error and rapidly transforms unstructured data from multiple sources into actionable business outcomes, with seamless integration into existing IT systems
  • SPAIS, a unified computer vision platform for managing models related to safety, quality control, monitoring and analytics
  • an AI agent for the legal function
  • the Service Desk AI agent, which processes user requests and integrates with ITSM systems.

A separate class of solutions includes predictive and optimisation models for production planning, inventory management and logistics.

AI is an integral part of Metinvest’s operational ecosystem and fully integrated with its core systems. In day-to-day work, employees use the intelligent assistant MS Copilot to automate analytics, document preparation and communications.

At the technological level, language models interact with CRM, ERP, logistics and production platforms. Computer vision is integrated with video surveillance and safety systems, while MIOSIAR operates directly within the electronic document management system and is integrated with SAP ERP and other data sources. As a result, AI functions as an embedded component of the digital architecture, connecting data, processes and users, and can be scaled for external clients.

Serhii Detiuk, chief information officer at Metinvest, said: “Artificial intelligence is becoming one of the key drivers of industrial competitiveness, particularly in manufacturing. It enhances the value that businesses derive from IT solutions and existing data. In the context of the war, we are focusing on solutions that help to maintain efficiency even with limited resources. Our priority is to scale successful solutions across all Metinvest operations and subsequently offer them to external clients in Ukraine and Europe.”

Among the winners in the other 15 categories are DTEK (energy), KNESS (renewable energy), Kernel (agriculture and food technologies), Fintech-IT Group (IT), Ciklum (IT software), EVO (e-commerce), Lifecell (telecommunications), Sense Bank (banking), Arsenal Insurance (insurance), COMFY (retail), WOG (fuel retail), Uklon (transport and logistics), Teva Ukraine (pharmaceuticals), Dobrobut (healthcare services) and BAT Ukraine (FMCG).
