More than 400 children will be able to undergo a programme that is essential for their future life and development in one of the best health centres in the Carpathians. The programme will be open to children of Metinvest employees mobilised to the Armed Forces of Ukraine and internally displaced employees from all Ukrainian enterprises of the company, as well as to children who lost family members in the war.
The programme will start this summer in three rounds of two weeks each. The first round will start at the end of June. The children will take part in a health programme, as well as individual and group work with psychologists, trainings and art therapy. The entertainment part includes games, quests, master classes, excursions to lakes, mountains and waterfalls, sports games and much more.
Throughout the programme, the children's psychologists will be advised and accompanied by experts from the Ukrainian Psychologists Association.
Tetiana Petruk, Director on Sustainable Development and People Management of Metinvest Group:
— Saving Lives uses a variety of approaches to restore the mental health of Ukrainians who have suffered war trauma. The initiative is already working with women and children within the Unbreakable Mom project of Masha Foundation. Together with the UN Global Compact in Ukraine, it is establishing psychological rehabilitation and support centres for affected civilians. It provides hibuki therapy for children in Pokrovsk and Myrnohrad. Our new programme is aimed at providing psychological support to children who have lost their parents, left their homes or experienced other traumatic events due to the war. I hope that the power of the Ukrainian Carpathians and the care of specialists will help children cope with trauma and return their ability to enjoy life.
The Saving Lives initiative was created by Metinvest Group in coordination with Rinat Akhmetov Foundation at the beginning of the russian invasion of Ukraine. For more than 15 months of the full-scale war, the project has helped almost 500 thousand people in 70 territorial communities. Ukrainians have received more than 4,200 tons of foodstuffs and hygiene products, and hospitals have received medicines, consumables, and equipment worth €250,000.
The project involved nearly 200 companies from around the world, 400 volunteers and 10 foundations and public organisations. For more than a year of its activities, the amount of assistance from donors has exceeded €2.7 million.
Saving Lives' main areas of activity include prosthetics and rehabilitation of the military and civilians, as well as psychological recovery of women and children.
