A ranking of the 20 largest individual investors was topped by Rinat Akhmetov, the ultimate beneficial owner of Metinvest and DTEK, whose combined investments amounted to UAH145.3 billion.
Of this amount, Metinvest invested UAH43.6 billion: UAH11.0 billion in 2022, UAH11.7 billion in 2023, UAH10.1 billion in 2024 and UAH10.8 billion in 2025.
The funds were allocated to improving employee safety, ensuring uninterrupted production operations, implementing new construction projects at the Group’s integrated mining and processing plant as part of the transition to ‘green’ steel production, and developing Metinvest’s own power generation capacity.
The top five in the individual ranking also included Yuriy Kosiuk; Vitaliy Antonov; Hennadii Butkevych, Yevhen Yermakov and Viktor Karachun (together); and Volodymyr Popereshniuk and Viacheslav Klymov (also together).
To compile the individual ranking of capital investors, the first in the Ukrainian media, LIGA.net analysed financial reports and public registers and sent enquiries to more than 60 of Ukraine’s largest companies. Only those that officially confirmed the volume of their capital investments were included in the rating. As some major market players either did not respond or declined to provide the information requested, they were not included.
