Metinvest Polytechnic Announces Start of 2025 Admissions Campaign

Metinvest Polytechnic, Ukraine’s first private mining and metals university, has announced the start of the 2025 admissions campaign. The new intake creates opportunities for students seeking a modern engineering education, combining theory with practical experience at real production facilities. Key advantages include a flexible study schedule, scholarship programmes for top students, opportunities for international internships, as well as hands-on training and employment at Metinvest enterprises.

This year, the university is opening enrolment for 19 bachelor’s degree and 20 master’s degree programmes, as well as five postgraduate programmes. The bachelor’s degree programmes include metallurgy, mining, materials science, automation, computer science, environmental protection, mechanical equipment engineering, electrical systems engineering, business analytics, welding, occupational safety and more. A full list of programmes of study is available on the official website. All the programmes have been developed in response to the demands of business and production needs.

Oleksandr Povazhniy, rector of the university, said: “Technical education is now a priority for Ukraine. It is important both for rebuilding the country and modernising its industry through the implementation of innovations and European approaches. Our students gain knowledge that possesses real value for business, giving them a strong start in building their careers in cooperation with Metinvest.”

General conditions for entry

Applicants for bachelor’s degree programmes must take the National Multi-Subject Test (NMST), which will be held from 14 May to 25 July. Applications can be submitted starting from 19 July. Applicants for the master’s degrees programmes will take either a single entrance exam and a single professional entrance exam, or a professional exam, depending on the area of specialisation,

Metinvest Polytechnic is open to everyone. In addition to obtaining higher education on a contractual basis, there is the opportunity to study under a scholarship from Metinvest, which allows students to obtain their education at the Group’s expense. Metinvest covers tuition fees for its employees and their children, as well as for students who are willing to work at the Group’s production facilities during and after their studies.

Metinvest Polytechnic combines online lectures with offline workshops. Students complete their internships at Metinvest’s enterprises in Zaporizhzhia, Kryvyi Rih and Kamianske. Top students are also offered the opportunity of training at the Group’s production sites abroad, opening prospects for career growth as well as facilitating the implementation of international best practices in Ukraine.

Preferential terms for applicants

Applicants from territories where active hostilities are ongoing can enrol in the university on preferential terms. The full list of such settlements can be found by referencing the order “On the approval of the list of territories where hostilities are (were) conducted or are temporarily occupied by the russian federation.”

The university is dedicated to supporting veterans. The admissions committee at Metinvest Polytechnic notes that all veterans without exception can apply using a simplified procedure. An online interview is the only requirement. This step is part of a strategy designed to support veterans and integrate them into all aspects of civilian life — including through higher education or retraining.

Opportunities for development

Metinvest Polytechnic not only provides high-quality engineering education but also creates the right conditions for the comprehensive development of students and fosters their career growth. Students can join scientific clubs, participate in student self-government, implement their own projects and take part in international internships.

Moreover, last year the university launched a pilot internship project at Promet Steel (Bulgaria) and signed a cooperation agreement with Danieli & C. Officine Meccaniche S.p.A. (Italy). This provides new opportunities for students — from learning about cutting-edge engineering technologies to participating in international projects and transforming the steel industry in line with European sustainable development standards.

Metinvest Polytechnic is a next-generation university that trains specialists who are in demand both in Ukraine and abroad. The top graduates receive their first job at Metinvest, opportunities for career growth and additional motivational programmes from the Group.
