Replacing the Lurgi 552В roasting machine gas cleaning system at Northern GOK

Northern GOK has overhauled the Lurgi 552B roasting machine and replaced its gas cleaning system. The new electrostatic precipitator design boasts 99% efficiency. The upgrade has reduced dust emissions in line with regulatory norms . The total project budget exceeded UAH100 mn.

Renovating the dust and gas cleaning equipment on blast furnace no. 2 at Ilyich Steel

Ilyich Steel has finished a major overhaul of blast furnace no.2, which involved fully replacing its dust and gas cleaning equipment. Project investments totalled UAH230 mn.

The overhaul involved installing a new vessel shell and replacing the waste-heat boiler and gas cleaning system, which reduced dust and gas emissions . Metinvest Promservice’s service provider completed the work in 80 days.

Rebuilding blast furnace no. 4 at Azovstal

Azovstal has completely rebuilt blast furnace no.4, which involved replacing the furnace shell, relining the furnace with new refractory bricks and installing a new cooling system, as well as building a modern pump and accumulator station. The blast furnace now features a computerised control system as well as instrumentation, transmitters and automation.

State-of-the-art air cleaning equipment costing US$12.7 mn has been installed. The new cast house dusting removal system and high-capacity bag filter can catch up to 99% of dust and eliminates red smoke emissions, bringing it into line with European environmental standards.

Building sinter machine no. 2 gas cleaning unit at Zaporizhstal

Zaporizhstal has installed gas cleaning equipment on sinter machine no. 2 as a part of a comprehensive environmental sinter plant modernisation programme launched in 2013.

The gas cleaning system features equipment from Ukrainian and foreign manufacturers. Two bag filters and draught equipment consisting of an axial ventilator, ID fan and exhaust fan have been installed.

Advanced multi-stage waste gas cleaning technology recovers and recycles iron-bearing dust. The second stage cleans sulphur oxides and dust residues from the sinter gas.
