The Hogwarts camp from the Super Camp network in the Carpathian Mountains will host children from the families of employees who were killed in action, captured or went missing while defending Ukraine, as well as children of veterans who have returned to Metinvest’s enterprises after demobilisation.
The Ukrainian Foundation “Mriya”, a charitable organisation founded by Yulia Payevska (Taira), has partnered with Metinvest on this project. The foundation focuses on the health and psychological relief of children experiencing the stresses of war.
The first 30 children from Zaporizhzhia have already departed for their holiday. The second group of 50 children will leave at the end of July, and the remaining 20 children will go in mid-August. Each session will last 10 days.
The camp offers a variety of sports and water activities, workshops and self-development sessions, excursions and hikes, as well as medical and psychological support. There will also be enchanting activities and magical disciplines.
Tetiana Petruk, Metinvest’s Chief Sustainability Officer, said: “We continue to care for children and support the families of defenders who died protecting our future, as well as veterans who have joined Metinvest’s enterprises. I am confident that the Carpathians will become a place of strength and recovery for children who have experienced significant losses. The adventures and magical atmosphere will help them to cope with stress and rediscover the joy of life.”
The “Saving Lives” humanitarian initiative was established by Metinvest Group in coordination with the Rinat Akhmetov Foundation at the beginning of the Russian invasion of Ukraine. Since the start of the full-scale war, the project has assisted nearly 500,000 people. Ukrainians have received 4,200 tonnes of food and hygiene products, and hospitals have been provided with medicines and equipment worth UAH9.5 million.
Ten foundations and non-governmental organisations, as well as over 250 donor companies from around the world, have joined the project. Since its inception, donor contributions have exceeded EUR2.8 million.
The main areas of focus for the “Saving Lives” initiativeainclude prosthetics and the rehabilitation of military personnel and civilians, as well as the psychological recovery of women and children. Since the beginning of the full-scale war, nearly 1,200 women and children have received psychological rehabilitation through the initiative.a
