The food produce items are designated for those who really need support: single people over the age of seventy and people with disabilities. Veterans do not even have to leave their homes: food kits will be delivered to them by volunteers from Metinvest's youth organizations. This will minimize their contact with the outside world and, as a result, the likelihood of infection.
Each person will receive 30 thermal bags with fully ready-to-eat food, which will only need to be heated up. These are vacuum-packed food items that do not take time to cook. The kits include different combinations of all kinds of cereals with meat.
Yuriy Ryzhenkov, Chief Executive Officer of Metinvest Group:
"In this difficult time for Ukraine, it is important to direct resources to where they are needed most. Taking care of the veterans of production is an idea of our employees, which we readily supported. This is part of our comprehensive program to combat the spread of coronavirus. We are doing and will continue to do everything to ensure that the help is comprehensive: we provide hospitals with oxygen, purchase rapid tests and equipment for health workers, protective equipment for law enforcement officers."
We would like to remind that the shareholder of the Metinvest Group, Rinat Akhmetov, channelled UAH 300 million to fight COVID-19. To do this, he pooled all the resources – his charitable foundation, FC Shakhtar, DTEK, Metinvest and other assets of the SCM Group to help Ukraine.
The Rinat Akhmetov Foundation purchased 300,000 rapid tests for coronavirus, ventilators, coronavirus sample analysers complete with test-cartridges for them, as well as personal protective equipment for Ukrainian health workers.
