Metinvest Group in cooperation with its Italian partner Fratelli Cosulich Company has developed a project to increase the permissible size of ships calling at the Italian Porto Nagaro. This allows the Group to reduce the cost of delivery of metal products to Italy by EUR 4.4 million per year, and strengthen its positions in the region.
In order to implement the project, the navigation channel was studied using special laboratory and laser measurements. As a result, Metinvest obtained a permission to call at the port for vessels with deadweight up to 15-16 thousand tonnes vs. the previous limit of 7 thousand tonnes.
The first Metinvest Line vessel carrying slab from Mariupol has been unloaded in Porto Nagaro.
The project was implemented as a part of Metinvest’s strategy realization, which includes efficient logistics as one of the key objectives.
In Italy Metinvest Group owns two assets: Metinvest Trametal (production site is located in San Giorgio di Nagaro) and Ferriera Valsider (Verona).
